I have been to GCNP several times.  I have stayed on the both the South and North Rims.  I have to tell you that I prefer the  North Rim for the peace, quiet, large Ponderosa Pine trees and the Kaibab squirrel (Sciurus aberti kaibabensis).  The South Rim has some spectacular vistas but I don't like having to ride a shuttle.

If you get the chance to go please do it is impressive.
